Pass Down the Adventure, Today

The North Carolina Outdoor Heritage Trust Fund provides for the expansion of opportunities for youth, ages 16 and younger, of outdoor recreational activities, including but not limited to fishing, horseback riding, camping, hiking and bird watching in order to preserve North Carolina’s outdoor heritage for future generations.

We believe that getting kids outside to both play and learn builds stronger communities and in turn a stronger tomorrow. That is why we have made it our mission to ensure the health of our youth, natural resources, and state by inspiring and enabling the next generation of passionate participants in North Carolina’s outdoor heritage activities.

The Outdoor Heritage Trust Fund has seen great growth thanks to the contributions of all our supporters, like you. It is only with your help we have the ability to continue our efforts to pass along our shared traditions.

Thanks to your donations, we have been able to establish programs such as our GO Grants program, where we provide grants to teachers to take their students on outdoor educational field trips or to build on-campus outdoor learning centers. Through GO Grants we have sent fourth-graders camping overnight, we had high school students go to the mountains and learn to fish. A school built an outdoor classroom complete with benches, whiteboards and a roof for when there is extreme weather. In 2019, we launched the GO Grants program and in that year awarded 136 grants totaling over $189,000 in 57 counties impacting 14,335 students across all grade levels kindergarten through 12th grade.

Also, thanks to our donors, we are able to provide kids 16 and under our patches through our Outdoor Heritage Patch Program for free.
